‘As a Welsh Registered Social Landlord (RSL) ateb is required to comply with Schedule 1 of the Housing Act 1996 which imposes certain conditions on the relationship between RSLs, their Board Members and employees. The purpose of Schedule 1 is to ensure that there are transparency and probity in the activities of an RSL.
The underlying principle of Schedule 1 is that Board Members, their relatives and close associates should not benefit in any way from the Board Member’s involvement with ateb. One of the restrictions within Schedule 1 prevents ateb from granting a contract of employment to a Board Member’s relative or close associate. ateb requires any person applying for a position to declare this information.
Due to the conditions within schedule 1, ateb is unable to employ any relative or close associate of a Board Member.’
