Second TACP Funded Home in Haverfordwest gets seal of approval.

Earlier this month we let our second TACP funded property in Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire.

The Transitional Accommodation Capital Programme (TACP) provides grant funding to local authorities and registered social landlords (RSLs) to bring forward good quality, longer-term accommodation at pace, to support those with a housing need (these are people in temporary accommodation or initial accommodation for resettlement). The Welsh Government program aims to create over 1,000 additional homes in Wales within 18 months.

This means we were able to make lots of improvements to this property in Haverfordwest, and let it to a family in who had been living in temporary accommodation for over 2 years.

Some of the improvements made were to:

  • accessibility, such as a ramped entrance to the property, new driveway, and improved garden.
  • energy efficiency, such as high-tech insulation and eco-smart central heating system.
  • security, including A-rated ‘secure by design’ windows and doors.
  • safety, including new electrics, fixtures and fittings.
  • amenities, providing the right level of accommodation for this particular family’s needs.

Nick Hampshire, ateb Chief Executive commented

“It’s incredibly rewarding to see our latest TACP-funded property ready to welcome a new family. The home has received extensive improvements, from eco-smart heating systems, increased insulation, and many accessibility features. We are committed to ensuring that more families in West Wales have access to high-quality housing, and this project is a shining example of what we can achieve with the right support. I’m proud of the work our team has undertaken to transform this house into a safe, secure, sustainable home for the future and I’m pleased that there are more in the pipeline.”

ateb have plans to use TACP funding to improve 7 more properties this year, with a further 2 properties awaiting Welsh Government approval.

This funding is crucial to helping ateb get its long-term strategic voids (these are properties that need extensive works) back onto the housing register, providing much needed social homes for the people and communities of West Wales.
