The ateb team has a shared purpose of “Creating Better Living Solutions… for the people and communities of West Wales”
Removing or reducing the amount of carbon our homes and operations produce, to address the climate warming environmental challenge, is key to delivering our purpose. We believe that reducing carbon production is good for us all, it will help reduce customers energy usage and make the environment a cleaner, more sustainable place for our communities to live.
Our ‘ateb net zero’ living solutions will be critical to living better in the years to come. To be considered net zero by 2050 we need to start planning and investing now, that’s why we have started work on 3 big plans that will see programmes of work and initiatives starting to remove or reduce carbon production.
This will not be easy and it will take time and investment over many years to get things in place. Plan B, our existing customers homes, will offer the biggest challenge as many of our homes will need significant changes to bring them up to today’s energy and environmental standards.
So what are we planning to undertake within Plan B to make sure our existing homes are cost effective to heat and run in the future? Here are a few programmes underway or due to start:
- Home Energy Passports – every ateb home will have an ‘energy passport’ that will say what needs to be done to bring your home up to modern energy standards.
- Smart Energy Technology – homes will have better technology to let customers and us know whether homes are performing effectively, where they are not, we will take action to help you.
- Greener Homes Programme – undertaking works to the outside envelope of our homes to stop heat leaking out and therefore lowering the running cost of heating homes.
- Renewable Energy Programme – by using technology like solar power, home battery storage and heat pumps, we will make the use of home energy cleaner.
- Customer Energy Support – with the changes and investment being planned we need to make sure that our customers are engaged, supported and feeling confident about how all our homes will operate in the future. This will involve us listening, understanding and shaping how we best give advice, training and support to make sure our customers get the best from their homes.
Our teams are starting to shape and deliver the above programmes but with 3,000+ homes to consider, it will take us a bit of time to deliver our range of net zero living solutions to all
As always if you have any concerns or queries please don’t hesitate to contact the team. It’s in all our interests for our ateb net zero living solutions to be a success, please keep a look out for more information and how you can get involved.
