Welsh Government has a vision to end violence against women and girls, domestic abuse and sexual violence in Wales. Their aim is to make Wales the safest country in Europe for everyone, to undermine the environment in which domestic abuse takes place. One of their objectives is to challenge the public attitude to violence against women, domestic abuse and sexual violence across the Welsh population through awareness raising.
Sadly most of us have been touched by domestic abuse in some way. The more people who are aware of domestic abuse and how to signpost to organisations who can provide appropriate support, the safer our communities will be.
At ateb we support the Welsh Government’s vision, and we ensure that all our teams, regardless of their role, are trained in domestic abuse awareness.
Working in partnership with Rhian Hathaway from Lasting Change Training we recently ran a series of domestic abuse awareness sessions for our team, which were really informative and helped the team to understand domestic abuse, the different types of abuse and what support is available.
“I found the training really information and it made me realise that domestic abuse is not limited to physical abuse. I feel more confident to be able to have those conversation and signpost to the range of support organisations that are out there” said one ateb team member.
