This year, ateb is proud to celebrate International Day of Older People on October 1st. The 2024 theme, “The Part We Play”, highlights the invaluable contributions older people make to our communities as workers, carers, volunteers, and community connectors.

Older people play a crucial role in creating strong, vibrant communities. At ateb, we provide a range of good-quality, flexible Independent Living housing and support services, tailored to the needs of our older customers. Despite their contributions, many face societal and physical barriers, limiting their involvement. This year’s theme encourages us to break down these barriers and celebrate their positive impact.

As part of our celebration, we’re excited to launch our first-ever Community Champions Awards, recognising inspirational individuals who make a difference in our community. Through volunteering, work, or simply being great neighbours, these champions contribute to the wellbeing of all generations.

Volunteering and paid work benefit communities and improve wellbeing and self-esteem for older people, yet many face challenges in accessing these opportunities. We believe everyone has a part to play in creating age-friendly communities where older people are respected and valued.
