Success for West Wales Care and Repair at the Health and Care Awards 2023

West Wales Care and Repair have been crowned winners in the Housing with Care category at this years West Wales Health and Care Awards.

Mike Turfery (Craftpersons Team Leader) and Lleucu Powell (Caseworker) received the award and said “It was a great event highlighting all the amazing work put on across West Wales in the Health and Care Sector”. On the award Mike said “It was great to be recognised for all the hard work the team puts in”.

The Housing with Care award recognises an individual or team providing person centred services to vulnerable people living in any kind of supported housing scheme.

‘The individual or team will need to demonstrate that they are meeting a range of complex care and support needs, including interacting with the local community, be driven to provide the highest quality service to individuals, supporting them to remain independent’.

West Wales Care and Repair (WWCR), a subsidiary company of ateb Group was launched in 2001 as part of ateb Groups commitment to create better living solutions for the people and communities of West Wales.

Jayne O’Hara who manages the WWCR service proudly commented “I am delighted for the team who work so hard to improve the lives of our customers and do everything they can to keep them safe and independent in their homes”.

Also in their category was Hanover Court, ateb’s Independent Living Housing looked after by Bill Faichney.

Whilst there could only be one winner, it genuinely could have been either with both nominations doing so much for their communities.

Amy Williams, who leads the Independent Living Team service commented “Having the two teams from the ateb family up for the Housing with Care award was a proud moment for everyone. Being nominated for the award shows the desire and determination ateb and WWCR have, putting customers at the heart of everything we do. Hearing the examples of how we are recognised for striving to make our customers Independent, living quality lives with reduced or no restrictions is heart warming as a service manager”.
