At ateb, we believe that every person deserves a comfortable, warm, and energy-efficient home. That’s why we’ve been working tirelessly to improve the living conditions for our customers, and we’re proud to share some incredible progress we’ve made in enhancing the homes within our communities.
Back in the summer of 2024, we completed the installation of External Wall Insulation (EWI) in 27 properties at Vineyard Vale, Saundersfoot — and the results have been outstanding!
Real Stories, Real Impact
Gavin and Emma, Vineyard Vale.
“It’s a hell of a difference, we reckon it’s increased the temperature inside by about 5 degrees so the only time we put the heating on now is in our airing cupboard to dry our clothes. Before the air smelt stale, it doesn’t anymore, the quality of the air is most definitely better”.
“It stays warmer for longer, it heats up quicker (the house). Whereas before we would turn the heating off at midnight and wake up at 4am in the morning cold, we now turn the heating off earlier and don’t feel cold in the middle of the night. It is so much better.”
“Our energy bills used to be £163 per month and now they are down to £142, so probably saving over £200 a year. It’s totally different”.
“The workman themselves were fantastic, they were really good. The logistics and when it was happening created lots of mess, but after the four weeks it was well worth it in the end.”
In response to being asked what would you say to someone thinking about having it done he emphatically added,
“Don’t think about it, just go for it, it’s 100% worth it.”
Jenny, Vineyard Vale.
“I’ve definitely noticed a difference. The house heats up much faster than before. It was a building site for a little while, but the workmen were excellent, thorough, friendly, and quick. The results have been well worth it.”
Colin and Denise, Vineyard Vale.
“Yes, there was some mess, but the outcome is incredible. It’s saving us money already. The house stays cool in summer and warms up much faster in winter. The difference has been amazing.”
As you can see from the image above, the external wall insulation is applied to the outside of the home (left image) and then finished and painted. The right-hand image shows the depth of insulation added to your home.
The 100mm Wetherby System for external wall insulation reduces energy needs for heating and cooling, meaning your home should stay cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter months.
How this investment is Making a Difference
✨ Improved Energy Efficiency
External Wall Insulation helps to significantly reduce heat loss from homes. By adding an extra layer of insulation to the exterior of the building, we are helping residents stay warmer in winter and cooler in summer – all while using less energy. This translates to lower heating bills and a much more comfortable living space.
🌍 Environmental Impact
As part of our commitment to sustainability and reducing carbon footprints, installing EWI helps lower the overall energy consumption of your homes. By reducing the need for heating, we’re not only helping our customers save money, but we’re also playing our part in combatting climate change. It’s a win-win for both the environment and the community!
💰 Cost Savings for Residents
One of the most immediate benefits our residents have noticed is the reduction in energy usage and hopefully (so long as energy prices don’t keep going up) reduced costs. With more efficient homes, heating requirements decrease, which helps families to keep their energy bills more manageable. In times when budgets are tight, every little bit helps!
🏡 Enhanced Aesthetics
The external wall insulation doesn’t just bring comfort and savings – it also gives the exterior of the homes a fresh, modern look! The work is carried out with attention to detail, making sure that the buildings retain their charm while getting a much-needed upgrade that benefits both residents and the wider community.
🏘️ Creating Stronger Communities
Investing in energy-efficient housing is about more than just bricks and mortar – it’s about investing in people. By improving the quality of housing, we’re giving residents the peace of mind and stability they deserve. A well-insulated, comfortable home can have a profound effect on mental and physical wellbeing, and we’re proud to be helping make that possible.
ateb’s Net Zero vision
At ateb, we’re not just about providing roofs over people’s heads – we’re about creating homes where people can thrive. The addition of External Wall Insulation is just one example of how we’re taking action to ensure that our communities are greener, healthier, and more sustainable, all part of our ateb Net Zero vision.
Next week we visit Garfield Gardens, where in 2024, ateb customers benefited from both External Wall Insulation and Solar PV! Stay tuned.
