We are excited to announce construction work has started on 11 new affordable-to-let homes in the picturesque village of Jameston, Tenby. Built for ateb by Sterling UK Construction Ltd, these homes are set to be ready for the local housing register in around 12 months.
Having previously contracted Sterling Construction to build 23 new homes at our Manorbier Station Road development, which are soon to be let, we are delighted to continue this successful working relationship at our latest development in Jameston. These new homes will feature EPC A ratings, incorporating non-fossil fuel heating, PV solar panels, and Air Source Heat Pumps, aligning with our commitment to reducing the amount of carbon our homes produce – ateb net zero.
The development will include a mix of 4 one-bedroom flats, 2 two-bedroom bungalows, 4 two-bedroom houses, and 1 four-bedroom house.
We spoke with Matt Reynolds, Site Manager for Sterling Construction Ltd, who shared his enthusiasm: “It is great to be working with ateb again, who are valued clients and have been fantastic to deal with. Our DNA’s align, and requirements such as including apprenticeship opportunities within the workforce reflect similar values and beliefs to our own.”
Senior Quantity Surveyor Dave Coleman added, “Myself and Matt are locals, so it’s great to be building new social affordable-to-let homes for Pembrokeshire people. It is always a pleasure to work with ateb, and we look forward to collaborating on more projects in the future.”
As part of Sterling’s community benefits, they are providing apprenticeship opportunities on site. We spoke with Ryan Evans, an Apprentice Bricklayer, and Joshua Davies, an Apprentice Site Manager. Ryan shared, “I used to watch brickies on BBC3 and had been doing bricklaying at college, so I wanted to stick with it. This is a great opportunity for me to learn and earn some money too.”

Josh explained his motivation for pursuing a Site Manager apprenticeship: “I used to be a bus driver but wanted a career that was more hands-on and outdoors. I started with Sterling as a groundworker and have been working my way up to this apprenticeship as a site manager. I’m delighted with this opportunity and just felt it was the right time.”
